Why Floss?

Many people underestimate the power of flossing. I always say, brushing your teeth without flossing is like taking a shower without washing your armpits. Yes, that’s gross. So, the reason we floss is to remove the harmful bacteria and plaque from under the gum line. Flossing is recommended once daily by most dentists.

Studies have shown that 82% of Americans don’t floss because of one of the following reasons:

1.)Flossing is difficult.

2.) Flossing is too time consuming.

3.) I find it difficult to remember.

Yes, flossing can be difficult. Practice makes perfect. The more you do it, the more efficient you will be at flossing. This means it will take less time to be effective. Try scheduling to do so the same time everyday. Making flossing a part of your night-time routine is a great habit to begin.

Flossing is important because it prevents gingivitis, periodontal disease, and interproximal caries ( cavities between teeth). Periodontal disease has been linked to heart disease.

So remember, floss to prevent tooth loss. Use Glide, because it slides!
